Catherine Ponterio, Special Instructor

Catherine Ponterio grew up in a small town in Westmoreland County. Her love for children began at a very young age. She started babysitting at the age of 13 and worked for the same family for 10 years. During her college years she also worked in a preschool setting teaching children computer skills and assisting the head teacher.

Following this role, she then worked full-time as a Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Catherine went on to graduate school and now has a Master’s of Science in Human Services and Counseling as well as a Master’s of Science in Special Education and Applied Behavioral Analysis. She has now been working as a professional with children for 15 years. Catherine is a Licensed Behavior Specialist specializing in Autism as well as Early Childhood Development. She has worked as a Behavioral Specialist and Mobile Therapist as well.

Catherine has a 10-year-old daughter who was in the Early Intervention program when she was younger. Therefore, she saw firsthand what a difference Early Intervention can make in a child’s life as well as the family’s. Catherine has experience in working with children of all ages with any developmental need. She has extensive training in Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Baby and Toddler Sign Language, Communication Boards and Devices, Routines-Based Interventions, Play-Based Therapy as well as Art Therapy.

Catherine has found that her role as a Developmental Therapist/Special Instructor has given her the opportunity to take all of her personal and professional experience and combine them into a position that she finds rewarding and that she loves. She is excited to join Amazing Kids to continue fulfilling this role. Catherine will be working in the Armstrong County area.
